Dr. Somnath Narayan - Founder & CEO
Dr. Somnath Narayan is founder and CEO of Apex Environmental & Energy Management Services and he is responsible for day to day operations. Dr. Narayan is a Civil
and Environmental Engineer. Previously, he was professionally associated with
West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) as senior management level
official (Chief Engineer Grade).
Dr. Narayan holds a doctorate degree in Civil Engineering from Environmental
Engineering Division, Department of Civil Engineering, Jadavpur University and a Master of Engineering degree
in Environmental Engineering from All India Institute of Hygiene & Public Health,
University of Calcutta. Dr. Narayan also did a post graduate course in EIA &
Audit from University of Bradford, U. K. with scholarship awarded by British
Council Division.
Dr. Narayan served WBPCB for 35 years. During his tenure in WBPCB, he was
heading implementation of environmental control policy & law in respect of
water and air pollution across about 1000 seriously polluting industries spread
over 8 districts in West Bengal State. His core functional competence area is
design, engineering & stabilization of waste water treatment/ industrial effluent
treatment, industrial air pollution control, Environmental Clearance/
Compliance.
Professor (Dr.) Arunabha Mazumdar - Honorary Technical Advisor
Prof. (Dr) Arunabha Majumder is a Civil and Environmental Engineer. He passed
Bachelor of Civil Engineering and Master of Environmental Engineering from
Jadavpur University. He studied at the International Institute of Hydraulics and
Environment, Delft, Netherlands and successfully completed Post-Graduation in
Sanitary Engineering. He was awarded PhD in Engineering from Jadavpur
University.
Initially Prof. Majumder Worked at Calcutta Metropolitan Water & Sanitation
Authority and dealt with Sewerage and Drainage Projects, design of sewage
treatment plants, Solid Waste Management etc. Thereafter, he joined in All India
Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, Government of India and associated with
Post-Graduate teaching in Public Health Engineering, Research and
Consultancy.
Prof Majumder has more than 45 years of experience in the field of Water
Supply, Water Purification, Water Conservation, Water Quality monitoring,
Water management, Rural Sanitation, Sewerage and Drainage, Municipal
Sewage Treatment systems, Industrial Waste Water Management, Water
Pollution Control, Air pollution Control, Solid Waste Management, Hazardous
Waste Management, Environmental Impact Assessment etc.
Dr. Arun Kanti Biswas - Honorary Technical Advisor
Dr Arun Kanti Biswas is a Civil and Environmental Engineer. He passed
Bachelor and Master of Civil Engineering from Jadavpur University. At the
Masters level he specialized in Environmental Engineering. Dr. Biswas also
passed Bachelor of Law from Calcutta University. He was awarded PhD in
Civil Engineering from Jadavpur University.
Dr Biswas retired as Deputy Director and Scientist & Head in January 2008
from National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Kolkata
Zonal Laboratory.
His core area of expertise are Water and Wastewater Management, Air
Quality Monitoring, Solid Waste Management, Environmental Impact
Assessment, Water Quality Surveillance, Design and installation of Common
Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP), Environmental Audit.
His experience includes the following:
- Design of Wastewater Management system for industrial township
- Planning and design of CETP for industrial area/ estate
- Environmental Impact Assessment
- Preparation of DPR on Municipal Solid Waste Management for urban local bodies
- Ambient air quality monitoring and assessment
- Water quality monitoring and assessment
Shri. Pankaj Bikash Bhowmick - Technical Adviser
Mr. Pankaj Bikash Bhowmick is a Mechanical Engineer. He holds Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) degree of Indian Institute of Technology (Roorkee). Mr. Bhowmick has long experience in integrated steel plants in India. He has 37 years of experience in Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). Mr. Bhowmick was posted in Bhilai Steel Plant, Durgapur Steel Plant and Growth Division of SAIL in Kolkata. At Bhilai Steel Plant and at SAIL’s Growth Division he was involved in project management, product development, vendor development and manufacture of spares. He retired as Deputy General Manager (DGM) & In - charge, Environment Management Division (EMD) from Durgapur Steel Plant. During his tenure of 13 years as DGM, EMD of Durgapur Steel Plant he was responsible for day to day operation of entire effluent treatment plant of coke oven division successfully, air pollution control from SMS division, etc. and maintenance of effluent quality, stack emission quality and ambient air quality norms as laid down by the State Pollution Control Board.
